Therapy for Couples
Over time, the joys and challenges of life shape us and sometimes the outcome of those changes is a strained or distant relationship. Maybe resentment has built and is now spilling into relentless conflict. Or perhaps you are asking yourself how the lover (and friend) you once knew became a stranger, or where the spontaneity, joy and passion have gone. Maybe you are wondering how it is that you are in a relationship, but feeling alone.
Healthy connections are crucial to our happiness and counseling is a means of strengthening and repairing them. There are inherent ebbs and flows within all relationships that can create feelings of discontent or stagnation. But sometimes those challenges become chronic, reaching a crucial point that feels like it may be too much for your relationship to bear. Couples counseling offers a safe space to reflect on, repair and reconnect as friends and lovers.
Some common issues that I assist couples with are:
Improving communication skills
Rekindling passion and healthy sexuality
Healing from grief and loss
Promoting mutual understanding
Gaining insight into present challenges and past events
Adjusting to change
With the intention of creating a mutually empowering partnership, I offer couples counseling that honors the spirit of your relationship and each partner within it. Together we explore the negative influence of conditioned patterns that have emerged from your personal histories, foster compassion for self and other, and work toward disrupting unproductive dialogues. You will learn new tools to convey your needs without slipping into conflict patterns that do not serve the relationship.
Restore connection. Cultivate trust. Create a new relationship dream, together.
I am extensively trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and utilize this therapy model to help you rebuild your connection. Please read more about EFT at ICEEFT.com.
